This operating unit allows the rehabilitation of the tributary of the Torto river, creating a leisure space, associated with Nature. The routes created make it possible to improve the quality of life of residents and are part of a new system of public spaces. By intervening in this expectant area, it is hoped that residents of the surrounding areas, mostly residential, will be able to take advantage of the requalification of illegal gardens that will become social gardens, associated with an agricultural market. This market, part of the Azevedo UOPG, will be a center of interest at the municipal level, boosting the local economy.
MEIRAL
With the Capela do Forte as a structural point, this operating unit makes it possible to start the rehabilitation of the Torto river. Creating a network of living spaces, together with museum equipment, this area will humanize the space and make it more accessible both by road and by foot. The link between the riverside area and the new agricultural market that will be located in the Azevedo operating unit is essential, passing through this operating unit (Meiral).
CUSTOMS BRANCH
Currently, this zone appears to be quite dehumanized and without efficient protection in relation to the existing ravine. The potential that this operating unit presents, in terms of the panoramic view over the Douro and the Campanhã Valley, and in terms of the natural path, allows the creation of a pole of interest for leisure and sport. The connection to Parque Oriental de Cidade and Quinta da Bonjóia, that is to say to the operating unit of Pinheiro/Bonjóia, is essential to create a network of pedestrian routes and cycle paths. In addition, the intention is to link this uopg's program to the intervention that intends to rehabilitate the entire Alfândega branch from Fontaínhas.
VILA COVA
By intervening in this operating unit, it is expected to leverage the construction of housing in the Ranha operating unit. In this context, this UOPG emerges as a priority, given that it has the potential to boost a complete and organized system of public spaces. The connection between the Contumil area - the least favorable in the city of Porto - and the areas of Vila Cova and São Roque da Lameira will allow residents to enjoy the western part of Porto and the east-north part of Gondomar. Account was also taken of the new buildings, designed by the Alexandre Barbosa Borges Group, which are being built on the land of the former Copper Factory, which, in addition to offering housing, will become a commercial center with access to various services.
